Check out the results from a wonderful collaboration of our lab with the group of Thomi Brunner at the University of Konstanz, which was just published in EMBO Mol. Med. (17.09.2026)
The paper with the title Microbiome-host communication via vaccenic acid modulates LRH-1/NR5A2 activity and ameliorates metabolic liver disease focuses on vaccenic acid produced by gut microbes of ruminants, which activates the mammalian nuclear receptor LRH-1. This has numerous positive effects on blood sugar and blood lipid levels including ameliorating fatty liver disease as shown in a mouse model.
